Tobermory is now a stallion and as well as enjoying considerable success in the show ring has bred excellent stock including R. Braemore who we bought as a yearling and has since been passed as a stallion. In 1998 we bought the piebald filly foal R. Miss Moffat who has proved to be one of the best buys this stud has ever made. From an un-promising start when introduced to the show ring – we only go backwards! – we left the unequal struggle until she had her first foal Windwillow Mischief who needs no introduction to the showing world. He was bought from us by Roz Steward who has had tremendous success with him not only in-hand but under saddle; Roz and her team also have W. Zebedee and again we must compliment them on their outstanding results with this Seva based gelding. After W. Mischief Miss Moffat had 2 colts who are both stallions and a filly W. Megan who had reserve junior champion as a yearling at Royal Welsh in 2008. Her last but one colt W. Mirage in the ownership of June Lewis-Hughes won The Mountain & Moorland Championship at the Royal Welsh Winter Fayre 2008. Miss Moffat’s own showing career began and she proved to really enjoy the show ring – enough to go Champion Shetland at The Three Counties 2004 and 2nd at the Devon Breed Show in the Coloured Section.
We have kept our stud small, about 12 breeding mare ranging from 35” down to 29” but do not breed from them every year. We enjoy seeing other Shetland enthusiasts showing our Windwillow ponies and find time now and again to show ourselves, some of our latter successes have been with W. Phoeme, a small 29” skewbald mare. Bloodlines included in this stud are Kerswell, South Sands and Berry.
